damned hurricane (and other things)…

28 09 2008

So as some of you may know already I have just made a big move from the VA/DC area to Houston, Texas and, what do you know, hurricane Ike came to welcome me to Houston barely a few weeks ago. I have been extremely out of my element lately as I have been dealing with a lot of hurt feelings (boy-related…ehh…), depression, the hurricane, AND some awful food poisoning. I am feeling ok now, but still recovering emotionally from some things.

bell hooks WILL come soon, I promise! I just need a little bit of time to pull myself together. What’s more, my new job, in which I work with all women, mostly around my age, has gotten me thinking about sisterhood a bit more lately (woops, a bell hooks vlog spoiler, teehee!).

This song really encompasses how I am feeling right now:

Okay, for those of you still checking on here or who enjoy my blog, thank you so so much for your support. I can’t describe to you how much I appreciate your reading here.

Lots of love!

The Birth and Death of the Day

I thought I’d share this with you while I am busy packing and preparing for my move.  This is one of the best songs by my favorite band in the world: Explosions in the Sky (they’re from Austin, TX!).  Listen to the whole thing through.  I am just in love with their music.  They don’t need singing or words for their songs.  They’ve saved my life.
