Australia, here I come!

To all you awesome schmawesome feminists, women’s liberationists, and everyone else who reads this blog, I am letting you know I am leaving for Perth, Australia tomorrow. I’ll be there for three months and busy working part time, taking road trips, and roasting in the west Australian sun BUT, that doesn’t mean I’ll drop out of existence. I’ll be making an effort to visit my favorite bloggers every now and then.
If any of you radical wimminz are in Perth, or anywhere in the western half of Australia, let me know! I would love to meet up with some other feminazis from wallaby country

I’m Back…And Better Than Ever

No.  Really.  I’ve been through some shit (and some good experiences) in the past several months and I’ve grown up a lot.  Even though I have lots of maturing to do still, and a lot of things to learn, I can take what I’ve been through and know that I am a different person now for the better.

Just as a recap, I’ve experienced my first time with:

1. Heartbreak

2. Food poisoning

3. Getting fired from a job

4. Getting a nose ring

5. Getting a tattoo

6. Planning a trip to Australia

7. Running on a regular basis (and it feels great)

8. Being honest and telling a guy whether I like him or not

9. Being honest with myself (still really working on this)

I would recommend to everyone, EVERYONE, to read Stephanie Dowrick’s book “Intimacy and Solitude.”  It’s about just that.  And she’s such a great, compassionate, approachable, and professional writer.

Anyhoo, I won’t be working on bell hooks for right now.  I’ll be doing my regular ranting posts and just post whatever my instinct tells me to.  I have missed you all so much in the feminist blogosphere, and I am happy to be back!

damned hurricane (and other things)…

So as some of you may know already I have just made a big move from the VA/DC area to Houston, Texas and, what do you know, hurricane Ike came to welcome me to Houston barely a few weeks ago. I have been extremely out of my element lately as I have been dealing with a lot of hurt feelings (boy-related…ehh…), depression, the hurricane, AND some awful food poisoning. I am feeling ok now, but still recovering emotionally from some things.

bell hooks WILL come soon, I promise! I just need a little bit of time to pull myself together. What’s more, my new job, in which I work with all women, mostly around my age, has gotten me thinking about sisterhood a bit more lately (woops, a bell hooks vlog spoiler, teehee!).
